Norwich resident Adam Clarke, 38, was sentenced in Bridgeport district court to three years of probation, six months of home confinement and a $750 fine after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute, and to possess with intent to distribute, heroin.
In 2017, a long-term investigation was launched into the distribution of drugs in Norwich and New London, U.S. Attorney John Durham said. On several occasions in October that year, Clarke was caught on a court-authorized wiretap discussing the distribution of heroin and opioids.
The investigation determined that Clarke, who was employed as a state judicial marshal at the time, received prescription pills from a known drug dealer while he was at work, and then assisted the dealer in avoiding detection by investigators by identifying law enforcement actions and vehicles, and agreed to broker at least one heroin transaction between the drug dealer and a third party.
Clarke pleaded guilty on Oct. 25 last year. Durham noted that he is no longer employed as a state judicial marshal.
